Double roller blinds combine two fabrics on one window – typically a sunscreen and a blockout fabric. Measure once for the blind set, then use the same finished width and height for both fabrics.
Important: Double roller blinds have a fixed roll orientation: the front blind uses a reverse roll and the back blind uses a standard roll. Before ordering, choose which fabric will be at the front and which will sit at the back. There is no separate standard-roll or reverse-roll option to select. |
You must have all these tools before measuring.
Decide which fabric will be the front blind and which will be the back blind before placing the order. In most setups, a blockout fabric is placed at the front and a sunscreen fabric at the back, but confirm the arrangement that best suits your window, handles and desired appearance.
Front blind: uses a reverse roll.
Back blind: uses a standard roll.
Measurement rule: both fabrics must use the same finished width and height.
Width: Measure inside the window frame from left to right in three places. Use the top measurement, as this is the widest part of the blind set, and record it in millimetres.
Height: Measure inside the window frame from top to bottom in three places. Record the smallest measurement.
Minimum depth required: Measure from the window, handles or other projections to the front of the window frame. Make sure there is enough depth for both blind tubes and fabrics to operate freely.
Deductions: Apollo calculates the required deductions so the double roller blind set fits neatly inside the reveal. Measure accurately and enter the actual reveal size.
Width: Measure the exact width you want the double roller blind set to cover. Allow an overlap of at least 100 mm on each side of the window. Where there is an architrave, measure from outside edge to outside edge.
Height: Measure the exact height you want the blind set to cover. Allow an overlap of at least 50 mm at the top and bottom. Where there is an architrave, measure from the top outside edge to the desired bottom finish.
Note: The finished fabric width is manufactured 30 mm narrower than the overall blind size. This applies to both fabrics in the double roller set.
For reveal fit: Apollo will deduct 3 mm from the width to provide clearance within the recess. Check that there is sufficient depth and that the front fabric will clear handles and other projections.
For face fit: Apollo makes the blind set to the specified size, with a 3 mm deduction to allow for bracket installation. Always check for obstructions such as window winders and handles.
Hinged doors: If covering glass panels on a hinged door, make the blind at least 50 mm wider than the glass and ensure it will not prevent the door opening fully.
Face-fit overlap: To reduce light leakage, overlap the window recess by at least 50 mm on each side and 70 mm at the top. The bottom overlap is your choice; when measuring to the floor, allow 10-20 mm clearance.
