Tools You Need

Step 1: Decide how you would like the blind to sit on the window.
Inside the Window Frame REVEAL FIT

Step 2: Measure the window frame & write down measurements in mm
01. If you’re installing inside the window frame we call it a REVEAL FIT:
Width: Use the metal measuring tape to measure the inside of the window frame from left to right in 3 different places and use the top measurement as this is the widest part of the roller blind and record in mm
Height: Measure the inside of the window frame from top to bottom in 3 different places and use the smallest measurement
Minimum Depth Required: Check the measurement from the window or window handles to the front of the window frame, to ensure there is enough room for the blind to operate freely.
Deductions: Apollo calculates the deductions required so the blind fits neatly inside the window frame, all you need to do is measure accurately!

02. If you’re installing outside the window frame we call it a FACE FIT:
Width: Measure the exact width of the area you would like the blind to cover. We recommend the blind overlaps the window by at least 100mm on each side. If you have an architrave we recommend measuring from outside of architrave to outside of architrave.
Height: Measure the exact height of the area you would like the blind to cover. We recommend the blind overlaps the window by at least 50mm on each edge. If you have an architrave we recommend measuring from outside of architrave to outside of architrave.
Note: The blind will be supplied at the exact sizes you provide, except Roller blinds where the fabric is supplied approximately 30mm less in width (not including the brackets).
Basics
- Face or Reveal installation options
- Fabric will be shorter by 18mm each side from the overall measurement due to the brackets being positioned on each side of the blind
- Reverse Roll is harder to operate in a Reveal and can frey fabric from continuous use
- Standard Roll generally blocks more light ( be aware of gaps)
- A child safety must be installed and Unsecured Chains must be 1600mm from ground. If you cannot affix the child safety anywhere, chains need to be shorter than 1600mm from the ground.
- Watch for fins on Sliding doors as they may obstruct where you can install the blinds
Measuring
NOTE: Apollo Blinds will make the blind to the specified size without any deductions. Do remember to always look for obstructions like window winders, handles, etc that may be in the way.
Hinged Doors Glass panels on a hinged Doors make sure the blind is at least 50mm wider than the glass. Make sure that the blind will not obstruct the door fully opening
- Face Fit – Measure at Top only If you want to fit your blind on the face:
Using your Metal Tape measure, take all measurements in millimetres (mm).
Onto an Architrave, measure the width starting from the outer edge of the architrave to the other side and then measure the drop from the top of the architrave to where you would like the blind to finish.
Outside past the Recess, where your blind hangs outside the recess and overlaps the window, measure the exact width of the area you want it to overlap. To reduce light leakage Apollo Blinds recommends you overlap the window recess by at least 50mm on the width and 70mm at the top whilst the overlap on the bottom of the blinds is up to you, when measuring down to the floor, allow 10-20mm of clearance.
Standard Roll
- Easy access to Chain Control
- Easy access to Chain Control
- Better privacy & room darkening & insulation
- Gnerally blocks more light ( be aware of gaps)
Reverse Roll
- Roll looks better on a backed fabric or textured fabric
- Harder to operate chain control
- Fabric is further away from window
- Can be useful on small reveal to clear handles, locks & fins on doors etc
- Harder to operate in a Reveal and can frey fabric from continuous use

- The slats should always bunch over a fixed pane of glass to prevent the slats from wind damage from an open window
- A child safety must be installed and Unsecured Chains must be 1600mm from ground
Measuring

Reveal Fit - Make sure the reveal Depth is suitable for the selected Slat width 132mm (for the 127mm slats)

Measuring
Face Fit – after measuring the 3 widths of the window, add 25mm to each side so a total of 50mm to be added to the width of the window
